Hello all.please help! I finally got my 865PE NEO2-LS motherboard to recognize my Maxtor SATA 120GB drive as Primary Master. The only other drive I have hooked up is a Samsung CD-RW. Now the problem is that during the Windows XP installation, it gives me that blue screen that says that I need to restart and if I see this message again, to disable BIOS caching and shadow caching and all of that. So I restart and the Windows XP installation continues. Then after 5 minutes, it gives me a FATAL ERROR, saying that the installation cannot continue because: 'The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error' Any ideas?

BTW, in another post, I mentioned that I tried running the MaxBlast 3 program on floppy and after it loads the files, it just forever ends up saying 'NOW ANALYZING DISK SUBSYSTEM'. I'm really suspecting that either A) additional SATA drivers need to be installed, and/or B) I need to flash the BIOS to 1.4 or beta 1.52? I've seen WAY to many horror stories to try flashing BIOS, but is this necessary to run a SATA HDD?
I would appreciate any help I could get. I promise I will thank you over and over and over again! 'NOW ANALYZING DISK SUBSYSTEM' I've gotton that error with Maxblast prog with a Sata Diamondplus 160GB. I got buy it & was able to correctly use the Maxtor utilities. Make sure that the bios is setuo to use the Promise (IDE 1/2)controller or ICH5 (IDE 2/3) as SATA. If configured properly, you should see in the boot sequence the recognition of the Maxtor drive, size etc. I then followed the Maxtor instruction to use thier utilities to format and set-up for Windows.
With windows 'hit' the F5 to allow you to install from floppy the Promise &/or ICHR SATA drivers for the Windows install. I did all that and still got the BSOD w/ stop eooros as you described, BUT I think mine was is due to using incorrect/MSI unapproved memmory. I get random blue screens with my new 865PE Neo2 board with 1 GB of memory (two 512MB in No's 1&3) and new Antec 350W Smart Blue PSU. I had to reinstall XP 8 times when I first installed the board - fresh because could not repair OS. Updating the Intel Chipset will also cause the OS to become corrupt and need replacement. Using all default BIOS factory safe settings. Yet I don't have an SATA and my CDR/RW is on second IDE.
